Facebook Code of Conduct
In joining our community on Facebook, Torrens Valley Christian School adopts a number of methods to stay safe online while using social media and adheres to Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
Using names in posts
This Facebook page is intended to build the school’s community spirit and thus provides a supportive online environment to users. The names of others can be used in posts only when you wish to acknowledge someone’s positive work or community contribution. Users interacting with this Facebook page, whether liking or commenting on posts, should do so using a Facebook account that clearly identifies them by their real name.
Tagging or naming student photos
Photos of students can only be published if the School has written permission from the student’s parent or guardian. For privacy and protection, please do not tag photos of children, and please do not name them in your comments.
Community Engagement
Torrens Valley Christian School encourages the school community to share positive news or upcoming events using the school’s Facebook page. Some situations, however, are best dealt with privately. The issues raised in this environment should be limited to school improvements, generally those related to infrastructure or processes. Issues involving personal relationships with students or staff should not be raised on Facebook. Torrens Valley Christian School will not support negative posts, and we do not permit the names of our staff, students or any other community members to be included in issue-based posts. Personal attacks, trolling or spam are not permitted.
Moderation and blocking
We reserve the right to remove comments that do not adhere to the rules of engagement of the page and Facebook’s community standards including comments that:
- are deemed racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam
- advocate illegal activity
- are wildly off-topic
- libel, incite, threaten or make personal character attacks on members of the community
We will not permit messages selling products or promoting commercial, political or other ventures.
Underage Facebook users
Following Facebook’s terms and conditions, Torrens Valley Christian School does not endorse the creation of a Facebook account by children under 13 years of age.
