From the Principal
Relationships are something we treasure at Torrens Valley Christian School.
And I can’t tell you how much I have missed seeing you face-to-face!
As from Monday 11th May Torrens Valley Christian School will return to face-to-face instruction for all classes, R-12.
Classes will operate on normal timetables and schedules and students at all levels will have face-to-face instruction with their teachers in their normal classroom areas. Specialist lessons will occur as usual, with specialist teachers and facilities.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have navigated the best ways to support your child’s learning in this changing COVID-19 landscape.
I can’t wait to see everyone again….face-to-face!
Believe in God
Young people are given a strong foundation for the future. The educational opportunities we provide TODAY… mould and shape our children….. TOMORROW! And we want those experiences to be founded in Christ!
Hope is found in Christ alone. Christ is the rock we can build our lives on! He is our Creator, our Redeemer, our Saviour and Lord! We want each of our young people to come face-to-face with Jesus as they learn and grow!
Over the past weeks, I have been encouraged as I have heard of stories of students putting their faith into action:
- Daily devotionals on-line with their teachers
- Students sending cards to their friends to encourage and bless them
- Classes memorising Scripture as part of their daily routine
- Care packages delivered to families in need following the advent of COVID-19
- And that adorable Easter message from our students!
Prayer for you and your family
Loving Father. We thank You for the hope we have in Christ. We thank you for the blessing of family and we pray that our young people will come to know and love you from an early age. Thank you for your grace and mercy during this changing season and help us come face-to-face with Jesus, as we put our trust in you afresh. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Belong to Community
Community is a hallmark of Torrens Valley Christian School!
Thank you for your support and feedback during this difficult time. We appreciate your loving support.
Here’s what our community are saying….
We want to extend our thanks and great appreciation to you and your team at this time. Can you please forward our sentiments to rest of the Board/Staff members involved in leading the TVCS COVID-19 response.
We have been very impressed with the level, quality and clarity of the communication from TVCS regarding the response to COVID-19. We greatly appreciate that you have maintained a measured and thoughtful response to the situation in the face of many confused, worried and emotive opinions in society, and within the school community. We support your decision to follow the evidence-based recommendations and directives from the government. We also appreciate the practical and spiritual support that you are providing for your teachers and staff and can see the evidence of this in how our children are coping through the situation.
As parents we see this time as pivotal in our children’s lives. The questions is; how will this shape them? The world around us is shouting messages of fear, distrust, and anger in the context of COVID-19. As Christians we have a golden opportunity to use Gods word and our conduct to lead them to Christ, whose message is contrary to that of the world around us. We want our kids to see that through living in Christ we are not afraid but are filled with peace through trusting in a Sovereign God. We are not angry, arrogant and cynical of our leader’s decisions but are thankful in seeing God’s acts of mercy, love, compassion and protection for his people. We are not surprised by the frailty of our sin-filled world, but looking and longing beyond to the comfort of an eternity in his Kingdom.
After preparing His friends for His death on the cross (John 16:25-33), Jesus reassures His friends with; (33) “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world” Our hope is that through His Word and our example, God will use this situation to grow His young Christians to a maturity, resilience and confidence to lead our society back to God in years to come. “ Parent
THANK YOU. We just want to send you a huge THANK YOU for all that you and the staff are doing. We know that it’s not easy and it adds a layer of complication but we appreciate all that you are doing for the children. Well as we continue to push on, just know that we are praying for you and all your staff. Parent
Just a quick email to say thank you for all you have done and are doing to care for our children and school community. We have felt complete trust and confidence in the decisions our school leaders have made right from the beginning. We feel very happy and peaceful to be sending our children back to school ….. You have been in our prayers and we will continue to pray for you. We think teachers are right up there with health professionals as heroes during this crisis! Parent
I hope that you aren’t too stressed with everything going on. I just want to encourage you with a scripture that is really simple but I find it really helpful and it gives me peace in challenging seasons so I just thought that I would send it to you for some encouragement. Isaiah 43:2 “When you go through troubled waters, I will be with you” It shows that we are never alone, God has got us through everything. God is always so so good no matter what. Kind regards. Student
I want to say how impressed I am and proud of how well our school has handled the whole Covid 19 scenario. I can’t imagine how challenging it would have been for all staff to implement the “School at Home” model so quickly & then have to revert back in a shorter time frame than was expected just a couple of weeks ago. The communication has been first rate & the preparation & adaptability shown by the school has been outstanding! Parent
Become all you were created to be
Whether face-to-face or working from home, Torrens Valley Christian School has proactively responded to the information available to us from Government and health authorities, developing and implementing programs to support your child’s continued education and care for the wellbeing of our community.
The launch of the School’s remote learning program, School at Home, has been part of these initiatives and I acknowledge the exceptional work undertaken by our teaching team to develop and launch the program in record time.
I want to commend the staff in the highest terms. They have demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication and professionalism as the School has proactively responded to the need to deliver distance learning to our students. The executive team, along with the teaching staff, IT staff and administrative, maintenance and communications teams have shown outstanding commitment to the task. Quite simply: They are exceptional!
Board Chair, Tim Adams summed it up well when he said:
On behalf of the School Board, I want to thank the staff for the incredible commitment, skill and determination displayed in recent weeks … During times of crisis, true leaders step up to the plate and there are so many examples of this in our staffing community in recent weeks. …The speed with which they have rolled out School at Home … in the space of two weeks, has been nothing short of phenomenal. …. It has been a ‘Team TVCS effort’ and you will have to excuse me for being very proud of them.
With the proposed relaxing of some restrictions in South Australia later this week, TVCS will change from the School at Home model back to face-to-face instruction, starting Week 3 (Monday 11th May).
I want to take this opportunity to thank you, as parents, for your support during this time!
I look forward to continuing to partner with you, as we work together to develop young people to BELIEVE, BELONG and BECOME all that God created them to be.
